MEND 7-13 is a FREE community, family-based program for children who are at an unhealthy weight and are between 7-13 years old and their families. With an emphasis on practical, fun learning the program is designed to deliver sustained improvements in families’ diets, fitness levels and overall health. MEND is about empowerment: putting the child at the centre of a range of ways to make life changes in terms of physical activity, food, self confidence and personal development. By following the MEND principles, participants will build a foundation for healthy living – for life.

MEND 7-13 includes 20 x 2-hour group sessions over 10 weeks. Its aim is to improve health behaviour- not rapid weight loss. MEND empowers families to make smart food choices, set nutrition targets, understand healthy portion sizes and interpret food labels. MEND activates children by encouraging fun physical activity in a group setting. MEND inspires families to stay healthy by applying goal setting, role modelling and problem solving.
